Gluten-Free Beer Reviews: Holidaily Brewing Company

Though out of our usual pattern, I felt this was worthy to re-blog here as I know many gluten-free people miss beer. Rejoice, for you now have a great option!

One of the things I’ve missed about having to go gluten-free is quality beer. Sure, Redbridge is readily available, but there’s nothing special about it as it’s a typical light lager, and it’s produced by Anheuser-Busch, whom I don’t like supporting because they are such a big conglomerate.

I’ve tried a few others along the way – Neff brewing in Oklahoma makes some decent beer, but availability has been difficult at best and the ones we can get in Texas are not their best ones. I’ve also tried Canada’s Glutenberg beers, but they had a certain off-putting flavor that’s hard to describe. Needless to say, I’ve always been wanting more and I was never quite satisfied.

Alas, I am now happy to report that the quest for a gluten-free beer to satisfy my discerning palate has come to an end! Holidaily Brewing Company was started in Colorado by Karen Hertz…

Lick Honest Ice Creams (San Antonio Pearl Location) – Austin, TX

Lick Honest Ice Creams is an Austin-based ice cream maker with store-front locations in Austin, San Antonio, and College Station.  For this review, we visited the San Antonio Pearl location, which is located centrally in the Pearl Brewery complex right next door to Lynn’s alma mater, The Culinary Institute of America – San Antonio!

Godai Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant – San Antonio, TX

It’s been a few years since we’ve reviewed a sushi restaurant, and this is a fantastic one to make a splash with!  Godai Sushi Bar & Japanese Restaurant is a quiet little rustic and unassuming place located almost out-of-place on West Avenue in San Antonio right across from a local headshop.  This award-winning treat off the beaten path was established in 2005 by its owner (and chef!) William “Goro” Pitchford, boasting over 20 types of seafood that is done right!

78624 The Bar is an ambient, old-fashioned-themed venue nestled centrally on the southwest side of the Main Street shopping strip of Downtown Fredericksburg, TX in between Llano and Lincoln streets.  The name is, of course, a head-nod to the ZIP code in which the establishment resides.

Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet – San Antonio, TX

By nature, we’re not necessarily fans of buffets.  Those with smaller appetites end up paying hefty prices to subsidize those with larger ones, and to call the food mediocre is often a favor.  However, Dimassi’s Mediterranean Buffet is different, giving you the chance to sample a bottomless variety of food the quality you’d expect to find in a non-buffet restaurant for a flat (and reasonable) price.

Black Potion Gaming Tavern – San Antonio, TX

Situated at the northeastern corner of the intersection of Fredericksburg and Lynwood in the Deco district of San Antonio is Black Potion, a brand-new as of 2022 “gaming tavern” that is sure to be a hit with nerds everywhere!
