Vegan Avenue on Main was conceived by the same brilliant, passionate owner as Plantology, Griselda Muñoz, with the similar goal of showing the world that vegan food doesn’t have to be bland or boring, nor does it have to taste fake and processed. Instead, Muñoz takes it to the next level with fresh, original recipes to prove just that. Like the aforementioned North SA counterpart, this is also a dedicated gluten-free establishment.

Plantology Vegan Eatery was the brainchild of Griselda Muñoz, who founded the restaurant post-Covid, in 2021. Her goal was to show the world that plant foods aren’t boring, and that you can still have burgers, tacos, burrito bowls, and milkshakes that taste good. Bonus: it’s a dedicated gluten-free facility!

Dashi Sichuan Kitchen & Bar is exactly the long-lost Holy Grail that we’ve been longing for! Chinese food that is safe and (largely) free of gluten and MSG can be incredibly difficult to come by. The owner is focused on health and inclusivity, with natural ingredients and plentiful vegetarian options.

Rosario’s is an award-winning San Antonio staple that combines authentic Mexican fare with original house dishes (all made from fresh ingredients) with a contemporary flare. Of its 3 locations (the other 2 being San Pedro and the San Antonio airport, of all places), its flagship Southtown/King William District location opened in 1992. At that time, Lisa Wong, the engine behind the operation, was merely 18 years old when she invested $7,000 of college money into the venture.

Big’z Burger Joint is a fun, plain-Jane burger joint in San Antonio. There are two locations – the North Loop (1604) and SH 151. (We actually couldn’t find any “about us” information about this place, so we’ll just proceed with our fantastic experience!)
Texas Bite & Sip
